In the beginin semit is for the children of sem, sem is the Noe brother...years afters years a lot of people come in Malta Island...In fact all the great Nobles Familly of all the europe. So in Maltese language a lot of words come from Italian Scicilian French English....Maltese language and arabic language is like spanish and french...Same roots.

Oh, yeah! I learned a lot; the way Maltese grammar uses the Arabic Dialect is very interesting. In a way that uses the Algerian Moroccan variety of southern Atlas dialect mixed with an Oriental touch suggests a continuum to a certain point before an obvious rupture with Mashriqi (Oriental) - Maghrebi Dialect .. The most interesting is that Maltese could help in my crazy idea of simplifying modern standard Arabic; maybe you can help?! This can also be of help in the process of learning any language in the future.
